Verifying suppliers in Saudi Arabia: CR, VAT, and what to check
Working with an unverified supplier in Saudi Arabia exposes your company to ZATCA penalties, void invoices, and delivery risk. Mwrd verifies every supplier on the platform — but if you source independently, here's what to check.
Commercial Registration (CR)
The CR number is a 10-digit identifier issued by the Ministry of Commerce. Verify it on the official Ministry of Commerce portal. Confirm: legal name matches, activity covers what you're buying, status is active.
VAT Certificate
Mandatory for suppliers above SAR 375,000 annual revenue. Verify the 15-digit VAT number on the ZATCA portal. Without it the supplier cannot issue compliant tax invoices.
Bank account in the company name
Never wire to a personal IBAN. The IBAN must match the registered company name on the CR.
Insurance and certifications
For construction or industrial supplies, request SASO conformity, GOSI registration, and project insurance certificates.
